I am MWK (Married to Rita With 2 great Kids). I love to learn, I love to experience different cultures, and I love to travel.  In fact, I have traveled to Italy, Israel, Scotland, Mexico, South Africa, France, Switzerland, and Goiania (Brazil).  I love to study contemporary culture. I consider myself a ‘specialized generalist’ i.e., I love to learn & teach about a wide assortment of things/topics.

I have a PhD from the Unversity of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL); there I studied second century rabbinic andragogy.  I also hold a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary (St. Louis), a Master of Science in Electrical/Computer Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Columbia, MO), and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS).

I attended elementary, middle (or junior high), and high schools in Kansas City, MO.  Kansas City is home of the Plaza, the Chiefs, Westport, Swope Park, and ‘hi, may I help you’ Gates BBQ!

I have written two books, “Living Salty and Light-Filled Lives in the Workplace” (Wipf and Stock, 2014) and “A Layperson’s Guide to Biblical Interpretation” (Wipf and Stock, 2016) and numerous articles. My interests are varied.  I have a passion for social justice, racial reconciliation, music,  coffee, theology, ethics, apologetics, eating, wine, beer, reading, writing, speaking and teaching-learning process.  I love occasional solitude.

While it may appear that life is simply peachy for us, my family and I like all of humanity have our ‘issues’ too.  I get into my share of ‘funks’ in other words.

  1. Luke, it is so good to hear from you. I am so proud of you and what you’ve accomplished. It’s hard to believe the same little Luke I went to elementary school with has accomplished so much and now you are blogging. I didn’t know you were such a nerd. Keep up the good work my friend and thanks for staying in touch. I expect to hear even bigger and better things from you.

  2. Luke,

  4. Hi Professor,

I was very impressed by your site and the many other sites your name brings up.

    See ya Monday.
